with Artistic Director Charles Bruffy
and Guest Composer and Pianist Ola Gjeilo
The 2008 and 2009 Grammy Awarding-winning Phoenix Chorale is regarded as one of the finest professional choral ensembles in America. The 27-voice chorus, under the artistic direction of Charles Bruffy, is equally dedicated to the creation and performance of new music, which he intermingles with more traditional concert literature. The Chorale is participating in our Flying E Ranch Residency Program where they will work with Manhattan-based Norwegian composer and pianist Ola Gjeilo (pronounced Yay-lo). His music has been performed and recorded in more than 30 countries worldwide. Last season the Chorale commissioned Mr. Gjeilo to compose new music; this year in Wickenburg they will rehearse that music in preparation for its recording.
Their Saturday afternoon performance at the Webb Center will be one hour in length and will feature the Chorale and Mr. Gjeilo on the piano. www.olagjeilo.com
